Using the power of investors to transform food production

Today, intensive livestock production methods are the dominant system of livestock and fish farming. An estimated 70% of farmed animals are now raised in this system, including 99% of farm animals in the US. However, the dramatic expansion of this industry has also exacerbated climate change impacts, water scarcity, food insecurity, biodiversity loss, diet-related diseases and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). In a resource-constrained world, there is growing recognition that the risks in the current state of animal protein production systems hinder sustainable development and pose a material threat to the global financial market.

Leading the way
FAIRR recently launched the world’s first comprehensive assessment of the largest global animal protein companies on critical environmental, social and governance issues. The new Index made a big mediasplash and was covered by Guardian, Financial  Times, Reuters and BBC.

FAIRR, founded by Jeremy Coller, Chief Investment Officer of Coller Capital, is a collaborative investor network that raises awareness of these risks. Aarti’s presentation will focus on how FAIRR’s global network of investors is using the power of their investments and engagement to catalyse the transformation to a more sustainable food system.
